Upcoming Events + Pretty Muddy

Mud·dy adj. Covered in or full of mud.

So some of you have been asking about my upcoming events and what the heck I have been training for! Well great question!

My schedule has a lot coming up. I say a lot because I feel like it is a lot to juggle with work and life balance. Although running is a ton of fun, I really enjoy running for the t-shirts, the swag, and the bling!

I mean don’t get me wrong, cutting off a minute on my time is awesome and all–but I need a goal to aim for in order to make it worth it!

So here is my schedule:

September 21: Wesley Spires Benefit 5K

October 5: The Color Run- Augusta

October 12: Pretty Muddy Women’s Mud Run- Atlanta

November 9: Rock N Roll Savannah Half Marathon

December 7: Jingle Jam 10K

February 23: Augusta Half Marathon

I am sure I may add some other races here and there, but overall these are the main line up so far!

The one I am getting most excited for is the Pretty Muddy Women’s Mud Run Atlanta! (Full Disclosure: As an ambassador-I registered for free and was not compensated in any other way.)

I have done mud runs in the past which kicked my butt and really intimidated me! I love running on pavement, but mud and obstacles tends to scare the crap out of me. The reason I am so excited for the Pretty Muddy Women’s Mud Run is because it is “more than a mud run, it’s an exciting women-only event where you can let your hair down and have fun!” (http://prettymuddywomensrun.com/about-us/).

A women-only event? SIGN ME UP! An excuse for an all girls weekend is amazing! Yes, there are obstacles–but the event is not timed so it is all about having fun! According to their website, “If you want to race the course, then we fully support that. You can take as much time out there as you like. If you love an obstacle and want to do it again – go for it!” (http://prettymuddywomensrun.com/faq/).

SWEET! So what you are saying is that I get to run in mud, not timed, and I can try the obstacles again and again if I want? Sounds Awesome!

So what exactly is Pretty Muddy? Well according to their website:

Pretty Muddy is a 5K adventurous obstacle course mud run for any woman who wants to get outside, spend time with friends, and have fun.

  • 5k Course (3.1 miles, run or walk)
  • Women Only (sorry, guys)
  • Mud (lots of it)
  • Architectural Obstacles (much better than shabby hay bales and shaky plywood)
  • Pretty Epic Finish Line Party (entertainment, music, drinks & celebration galore)

Why wouldn’t you want to do this run? Girlfriends, mud, fun, swag, drinks, and celebrating–right up my ally! I am doing the Pretty Muddy Atlanta on October 12th with Logan, Presley, and Aubrey. Sorry Atlanta, you may want to prepare yourself for us…it’s gonna get weird!

I will say I haven’t really done anything extra to prepare for this race. I know I can handle the 3.2 miles, but in mud is a whole different story! Maybe I will throw in a few pushups to help me with the obstacles :)

I can’t wait for this run because I get to challenge myself to something new, but have fun without intimidation! If you have any interest at all I recommend to sign up ASAP! I will be sure to let ya’ll know how it goes!

Have you ever done a mud run? Have you ever done a Pretty Muddy event?
