Hanging at an Ironman

Ironman Badass triathlon made up of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run! That’s 70.3 miles of pure awesomeness.

Today I was lucky enough to support my friend Alicia at her very first Ironman race in Augusta! Let me start by saying that she is a badass! I just can’t believe that it was only a half Ironman. The way she tore through that thing makes me KNOW she will be able to rip a full Ironman a new one!

Talk about motivation to get out and stop being lazy! As I stood on a street corner tracking my girl, I watched all the kick ass Iron-men and women and realized that this was something I could do if I set my mind to it. I am not setting the goal just yet, but I have a feeling I might be wearing an Ironman medal around my neck this time next year.

I also got to cheer on my new friend Doug! We found each other in the fitness community through Instagram and Twitter. His pics have been extremely inspiring so it was pretty awesome to meet a stranger-inspiration in the flesh!

He exists!

To know that there are people out there that push themselves to achieve a goal such as an Ironman is a remarkable thing. As I watched all the people running by me on mile 8–I realized there were people of all shapes, sizes, builds, heights, and it truly inspired me to be epic like they are!

So with that being said…I am in the market for a road bike. I can’t afford much right now, just something to start with. I am totally down with a used bike. I want to start off by doing a triathlon. I have absolutely NO clue where to start, but I gotta start somewhere. If anyone has ANY advice at all I GREATLY appreciate it.

Also, I am picking the running back up. I have almost 40 days until my race in Savannah and I can’t wait to kick ass! I have a color run on Saturday which will be fun, but I craving an epic run now that I witnessed my friends become Ironmans.

Have you tried a tri? What tips and tricks do you have? How the heck do I pick a bike?
